Dr. Loren Clarke is a Dermatopathologist and the Medical Director of the Dermatology Unit at Myriad Genetics. He joined Myriad in 2013 to pursue the development of novel molecular tests for the diagnosis of melanoma. Prior to joining Myriad Dr. Clarke was an Associate Professor of Pathology and Dermatology at Penn State’s Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Clarke is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended Middlebury College in Vermont prior to enrolling in Penn State’s College of Medicine. After completing Residency in Anatomic Pathology at Penn State and a Fellowship in Dermatopathology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, he returned to join the Faculty at Penn State in 2006.

As a pathologist and dermatopathologist at Penn State, Dr. Clarke was recognized for his clinical work with the ‘Best Doctors in America’ award for seven consecutive years (2008-2015). He served as Director of the Morphologic and Molecular Research Laboratory, where he was active in translational research pertaining to dermatopathology, and was Director of the Pathology Residency Program from 2011-2013. An enthusiastic teacher of residents and students, he has received the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Award for Humanism and Excellence in Teaching, the Department of Pathology’s Exemplary Teaching Award, and the Society of Distinguished Educator’s Faculty Teaching Award. He has served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology since 2010, and has authored or coauthored over 50 peer-reviewed articles and 8 book chapters. In 2013 he published a textbook of Dermatopathology with colleagues in Dermatology and Dermatopathology.
