Dr. Zembowicz earned his M.D. and Ph.D. (in Pharmacology) at Copernicus Academy of Medicine in Cracow, Poland. After a successful career in basic research in vascular biology which included work with a Nobel Prize Winner, Sir John R. Vane, FRS, at the William Harvey Research Institute in London, United Kingdom, he completed a residency in Anatomic Pathology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA followed up by a dermatopathology fellowship at the Combined Harvard Dermatopathology Program at Boston, MA. Prior to his current affiliations, he served on staff on dermatopathology and head and neck services at the Massachusetts General Hospital and on ophthalmic pathology service at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston, MA. He was an associate of Dr. Martin C. Mihm, Jr., M.D., in his dermatopathology second opinion consultation practice at Massachusetts General Hospital. His research contributions include papers on melanocytic tumors, adnexal neoplasms, ophthalmic pathology and inflammatory skin disease. His teaching experience also includes directing Harvard Dermatopathology CME Course and invited lectures in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas.
