👤 The Course Organizer – Professor Raymond L. Barnhill, MD
We are honored to introduce Professor Raymond L. Barnhill, organizer of the International Melanoma Course and a world-renowned expert in melanoma pathology and dermatopathology 🧬.
🏛️ Professor Barnhill is an International Consultant for Melanoma at Institut Curie and Professor at Université Paris Cité (Paris, France). He also serves as a Visiting Faculty Scientist/Professor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles, USA).
🎓 With an outstanding academic background spanning Tulane University, Duke University School of Medicine, and the University of Oxford, and senior appointments at Yale, Harvard Medical School, Johns Hopkins University, UCLA, and other leading institutions, Professor Barnhill has held major clinical and academic leadership roles worldwide.
🔬 His research has profoundly shaped the understanding of melanoma biology, angiogenesis, and cancer metastasis, including the discovery—together with Dr. Claire Lugassy—of angiotropic extravascular migratory metastasis, now recognized as an additional pathway of cancer spread.
📚 Professor Barnhill has authored numerous landmark publications and reference textbooks, including the Textbook of Dermatopathology, and has contributed to multiple editions of the WHO Classification of Skin Tumours. He is also the founder of the North American and International Melanoma Pathology Study Groups.
🌍 For nearly 30 years, he has organized international courses, symposia, and workshops on melanocytic lesions, including five International Melanoma Courses at Institut Curie, and continues to lecture internationally.
We are proud to have Professor Barnhill leading this course and sharing his exceptional expertise with the global melanoma community.
